A Nantucket Getaway

Happy {Travel} Tuesday! For a late Anniversary vacation Grant and I went on a quick getaway to Nantucket. If you aren’t familiar with Nantucket it’s a Cape Cod island off of Massachusetts. It is so incredibly charming!! I’m still dreaming of our time there 😍

Why Nantucket?
West coast travel is amazing but there is something about the East coast that has my heart! I’ve always been attracted to these interior design & fashion styles and well Nantucket just so happens to be the perfect find for many of those things! A few of my fashion favs from the island are Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, & Ralph Lauren.

Oh and if you’ve read any Elin Hildenbrand books, you know they are based in Nantucket– the most recent one I read was The Rumor👌🏼

Getting There
To get to Nantucket you can take a ferry or fly. I’ve heard mixed reviews about flying directly to the island— due to the daily fog many flights are delayed. So waiting around on a flight is the last thing you want to be doing, especially when short on time! #fyi

We ferried in from Hyannis, MA, on Friday morning taking the Hy-Line Ferry. It was a foggy-wet morning as we arrived, suiting for Nantucket’s nickname “The Grey Lady” but turned out to be a beautiful weekend.

If you are going for a long while you can take your vehicle across or you can rent one on the island. My recommendation would be to do neither–unless you are staying out of town for an extra long period of time. Walking, biking and renting mopeds are definitely the way to go!

Accommodations
The island is full of adorable places to stay, but places book up so quickly during the summer peak season, Memorial Day thru Labor Day. As always we booked last minute– the night before and still managed to get a room at this tailored manor in the heart of downtown!

Our Getaway
We arrived Friday afternoon and were welcomed by the cobblestone streets, shake-sided cottages, immaculate landscapes, and a relaxing vibe from the island.

We started with lunch at the Straight Wharf Restaurant and tasted Nantucket’s well known Lobster Rolls and tried Smoked Bluefish Paté.

We had a little more time to waste before check-in so we strolled the streets and stumbled upon the best ice-cream on the island– The Juice Bar. Everything made right there in house!
{We may have visited a time or two👌🏼}

Then it was time for check-in so we ventured to The Roberts Collection and were greeted by our quaint, colonial style room.

We relaxed for a bit after the long trip to the island and found the gardens to be the perfect place for that.

Then off to dinner at Brant Point Grill. This Harbourside dining was picturesque –if only my pics did justice for our evening!

The food was impeccable and the conversation was the best it’s been in a long while, ha! We were both amazed as to how peaceful and fun our dinner time was because we didn’t have to rush home to a babysitter #curfew or have to worry about the little mister wanting to run around the restaurant! It was a much needed time away.

After dinner we checked out a couple of local shoppes and this cute little Nantucket Bookworks. I loved the children’s section!

The time we talked about having to ourselves was so great that we made sure we used all of it! We couldn’t call it a night yet. #wheninnantucket Round 2– coffee & dessert! If you can’t tell by now trying lots of great food is a must when in Nantucket!

Day 2

We woke up early to take a walk/run out to Bartlett’s Farm Market. It was a beautiful morning full of vibrant views!

We made it!

We visited the market and garden center! Then sat outside to enjoy a scone with iced coffee & tea.

Then back to our place to get ready for the rest of the day! A few porch selfies.

A little more shopping

Then off to brunch at The Club Car. #adorable

Next stop, to pick up our ride for the afternoon!

Grant was in love!!
I was glad it at least looked cute with the Caribbean blue😉

We ventured to the other end of the island

Out to Sconset Beach!

Then to Sankaty Head Lighthouse.

Just waiting by our ped while Grant finished up playing with his drone! 💁🏼‍♀️

We headed back towards Bartlett Farms to Cisco Brewery, which must be where everyone goes on a Saturday afternoon. This place was packed! You pay a cover charge to get in and then there is music, vendors, food trucks and of course the tastings🍻

We returned the ped and completed our day with a little more walking & shopping downtown.

Nantucket you are quite breath taking!

We ferried back to Hyannis with a relaxing boat ride…

Grant napped while I snapped pics & read🤓
