Wow 2 months have flown by as we have finally settled into our new home of Turlock! We have had the opportunity to take several day trips to different areas. The sites here are beautiful, not that I expected any less, but they are totally different from other places I have been!
We ventured to San Francisco one Saturday afternoon, you’ll notice I said “afternoon.” We made the mistake of leaving Turlock around noon (after G had finished some work) with what was supposed to be an hour and half drive ahead of us. We hit major traffic and it took us two and half hours to get to the Bay Bridge (not too shabby) except that it took us another two hours just to cross the bridge (approx. 4 miles). So we arrived around 4:30pm and started our adventure.
We finally found a legal parking spot, in the garage under Union Square. (The street parking is crazy hard to navigate, you can’t tell if you will get towed after a certain amount of time or not.) So we played it safe in the garage. We spent most of our afternoon and evening in the Union Square area. This place is incredible!! Palm trees in the city square and beautiful architecture everywhere! So many amazing restaurants and the shopping is fabulous. 😉 You should come visit!!
We ventured a couple blocks from Union Square and stumbled upon this adorable French Cafe where we ate a very late lunch. #thepreggohasgottoeat
After lunch we walked some more and found good old China Town. So we strolled down that street and rummaged through their shops!

My favorite store that we stumbled upon after China Town was Sugarfina. They are a luxury candy boutique where their candy is handpicked from places all over the world to bring you some of the finest candies! We tried: Maple Bourbon Caramels (USA), Champagne Gummy Bears (Germany), Bella Rosa Hard Candies (Italy), and English Toffee Caramels (USA).

Ok enough of the candy store! We squeezed in some other site seeing while there. We drove down Lombard Street. If you haven’t heard of it look at it on the map I’ve linked! It’s known for its 8 steep hairpin turns. #viewfromthetop

Since we didn’t make it to the city in good time it was obviously getting dark quickly and so our adventure to see the painted ladies was a little drab. #betterlucknexttime

We finished our evening in the city with dinner at The Boxing Room. This was a fun atmosphere where Cajun & Creole dishes were featured.
We love San Francisco and know you will too!
What a wonderful adventure you are on! We are so excited that you are expecting! Sophia is expecially excited as she is following your travels on her iPad and thinks it is so great that three cousins will be born so close together. She keeps asking us to plan a trip to Turlock. God’s blessings to you!
Aww thanks so much!! Glad she is enjoying the blog 😊 We are excited for all the babies too, it will be fun! Yeah if you ever decide to come out this way let us know. Hope you all are doing well!
It really is an interesting city with diverse populations, food and fun! So glad you got to experience it! I haven’t been there in almost 10 years, but I have fond memories 🙂
Thanks Susie!! 😊
